Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How often should my child attend ABACS?

We recommend a minimum of two 3-hour sessions per week. Research shows that children who receive between 15 to 30 hours of  Behavioural Interventions per week tend to make the most sustained progress. However, we understand that this level of programming may not be feasible for all families or suitable for every learner. We are committed to working with each family to determine an appropriate schedule that supports your child's unique needs and circumstances.

What are the hours of operation at ABACS?

ABACS is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed on all regular Canadian statutory holidays and weekends but remain open year-round, with no closures during summer or holiday periods.

If I am on the waiting list, what is the estimated wait time?

As spaces at our centre become available on an individual basis, we are unable to provide an exact estimated wait time. Availability depends on when current families transition from our services. We will contact you as soon as a spot opens.

What are the first steps in beginning with ABACS?

The first step is completing an assessment, which is required to develop your child's individualized program. This assessment is conducted at the start of services, again after 6 months, and annually thereafter, all for an initial one-time fee. Based on the assessment results, we create an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) tailored to your child’s needs, which is implemented and regularly updated as your child progresses.

Does ABACS diagnose autism?

Currently, ABACS does not offer diagnostic services for autism. However, we are actively working towards offering this service in the near future.
