Curriculum-Based Assessment
ABLLS-R Assessment
The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills - Revised (ABLLS-R) is a comprehensive tool used to assess, track, and guide the development of language and essential skills for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. It helps inform the creation of personalized, effective interventions but is not used to diagnose autism.
The ABLLS-R evaluates skills across 25 domains, from language and listening to academic and daily living skills. Each domain is broken into 2-4 levels, allowing us to assess a child's current abilities and determine where to begin instruction. This structured system helps track progress over time and identify strengths and areas for growth.
The results from the ABLLS-R inform the development of an individualized curriculum, focusing on building foundational skills. For example, motor imitation skills enhance learning through improved observation. When creating an Individual Service Plan (ISP), the ABLLS-R provides guidance in selecting objectives that support language development and critical learning skills.
The ABLLS-R is required at the start of your child’s program, again after six months of services, and annually thereafter.
The assessment is completed for a one-time fee of $750.00 plus GST. Based on the assessment, we create a personalized ISP that is continuously updated as your child progresses.
